Q: What is your name?

My name is Thomas Gambier, I'm project manager and responsible for the Rapid.Space infrastructure and products.

Q: What is your product?

We're offering a 5G Edge Cloud with strong focus on security and resiliency. We sell and rent servers for high computational loads and open radio stations for private 4G/5G networks. One of our key points is to be fully open. We use only open source, our products are open hardware and our processes are also open. The whole Rapid.Space setup can thus be copied if you want to.

Q: Is it SaaS? PaaS? IaaS? Other?

We're offering all of them. Actually we're viewing "everything as a service" and for Rapid.Space, the "cloud" is viewed purely as an operations management problem.

Q: Are you a market leader? Who do you consider leader in your market? Does GAFAM play any role in your market?

Rapid.Space is a joint venture between Nexedi, the creator of edge computing, and Amarisoft, the creator of the 5G virtual radio access network. Together, Rapid.Space, Amarisoft and Nexedi are working for many of the largest listed companies in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Sweden, the UK, the United States, etc. We're offering a sovereign solution, but of course we are only one player in a market dominated by GAFAM. 

Q: What are the unique selling propositions of your product? Is your solution different or better than competing solutions?

Key reasons are security and control, both with regards to deployment and access to source code. Protection from foreign legislation and our prices are other criteria which often make customers choose Rapid.Space over other cloud providers.

Q: Which free and open source software solutions do you use?

Our whole stack is free and open source. Main solutions we use are SlapOS, Re6st, ERP5 from the Nexedi software stack, but we also use third-party open source solutions, such as MariaDB.

Q: What are the strong points of your technology?

Rapid.Space is

  • Hyper open: Everything is open source (software, hardware, management process) for maximum flexibility and security. No lock-in, no backdoor, no limitation.
  • Global: More than 240 points of presence worldwide including China. No latency, no congestion, no restrictions.
  • Multi Cloud: Portable and compatible with existing public or private clouds.
  • Sovereign: Local laws apply in each country Credentials are kept locally. No password leaks, no foreign spying, no export bans.

Q: Can you name users or clients of your solution? Preferably in the CAC40, DAX30, Fortune500, European governments?

Viettel, PSA Group, Institut Telecom Paris, SANEF, Teralab, Baunat, Seltech just to name a few.

Q: Do you have a success case among these clients?

Seltech in China is a good example. They use Rapid.Space for delivery and acceleration of their CRM in China. Q: Why did this client choose your solution rather the solution of he market leader or GAFAM?
